Bank of Ireland continue to receive high numbers of complaints from customers who have been charged for certifying identification documents relating to their saving accounts. Please note that all requests for ID certification relating to BOI products are free of charge.

When requesting ID BOI will send a letter to the customer with barcode. When you scan the barcode, it will take you the ‘no fee’ button.

However, in certain circumstances the customer may not have a letter.

For example, where they have brought in power of attorney documents to be certified for a savings customer.

To understand whether a customer without a barcode should be charged please ask to establish if this relates to a Post Office savings products.
